About
I'm a software engineer with a decade of experience building search and recommendation systems that work at scale. My day-to-day involves ranking, relevance, making large-scale ML systems reliable, and the ongoing war with CAP theorem.
What this site is for
This is a working notebook for ideas I want to understand more clearly. Writing a thing down helps me work through my own thoughts. Some posts are technical explainers or project notes; others look at systems, incentives, strategy, and tradeoffs in football, games, business, food, history, economics, and public policy.
Outside work
Outside of work I read more history than is useful, run a homelab that occasionally runs me, and have strong, well-researched opinions on the European transfer market, game design, and whatever public-policy debate is happening this week.
